Boring Boring Boring

Yes I am going to come up with the usual boring excuses, too busy etc etc etc.

No time to post anything. etc etc etc.

Anyway , need to do more renovations, but no time
Need to see some movies , but no time
Need to go fishing from the Kayak , but no time.

A big thank you to my Fairy Godparents who sent me a pair of Darwin Fishes!

Only I have suddenly become very superstious about putting one on my bike, its dangerous enough without putting a religous bulls-eye on it :-)

Storm in a C-Cup

What a weird world we live in, on the same day we have headline news about

1) 100's of people going nude to do a photo shoot at the Sydney Opera House
2) Meida uproar about a very crude topless shot of a B grade model by a boofhead footballer.

WTF? She is a model? WHO  CARES?  Are we living in the bloody middle ages?

Was not very long ago when 25% of women went topless at the beach (and 50% in Europe).

At least Laura Bingle has gone from yobo footballers to nice english gentleman cricketers who only use their mobile phones for texting .

Just got back from a week at the beach, very very tough, we need another holiday.

The 3 year olds loved it of course, but sudden freedom (one huge room) and no way of containing them at bedtime was total chaos. Looking after them when its raining 50% of the time and the wake up at 6:30am and go to sleep at 9:30 without a break means we are totally stuffed. I did read 10 pages of my book !

Also went fishing 3 times (5am, even less sleep) and caught bugger all :-(

Ah well, the girls had a great holiday (between tantrums from being overtired).

Mumford and Sons

Hmm whats been happening the last 2 weeks.

Went to the Bookfest just before Australia Day, I love this so much, every year I seem to go more and more beserk even though my reading has droped to virtually non-existent. I estimate I got over 100 kilos of books/puzzles and magazines, took 3 loads to the car. Mostly kids books magazines and puzzles but have to get enough for the year. Shame the science fiction section is so small and so crowded! Could not even get a look in.

Setting up a new HT PC around a cheap AMD 620, got really excited about it but its driving me nuts, BSOD all the time and I cant figure out if its a bloody mboard /CPU or memory error. As I built it myself I really need to track down which part is failing to return it and its impossible without spares. AAARRRRGGGHHH.
Saved $70 putting it together myself , taking 10 hours of time, not worth it!

Congratulations on Mumford and Sons winning Hotest 100 on JJJ. I dont listen to JJJ but watch Rage whenever I can (which is why I am setting up the HTPC so I dont have to use the old VHS anymore!).

Great album and really did not expect so many people to like it as it really is Folk.

Lots and lots of whingers "worst song to win ever" BS though on blogs etc. some people need a good Bex and a lie down.

Good to see Florence and the Machine and the XX in there as well,

Would have been great if the Decemberists got in there somewhere, "The Hazards of Love" is brilliant.

Got to go on my very rare fishing day off 2 weeks ago, went kayaking with a friend from Point Cartwright to Mudjimba Island chasing Pelagics, did over 25klm and got severely sun burnt despite loads of 30+. Great fun but got very tired the last 5 klms. Got my first spotted Makeral (72cm about 3-4KG) which was great but we did not get anything else despite lots of fish boiling on the surface. Cant wait to go again.

Girls birthday's are next week, going to get a bit crazy.

Memory

I just spent 1 week trying to remember the name of an old flatmate who left me in the lurch owing a few months rent bills etc (thats right Julian I did remember it eventually you schmuck). It was driving me crazy, how could I forget his name?

The weird thing is I rember the car he drove, WTF? Its not like I am a car nut or anything it is just that I find very easy to recall what cars people drove 10,20 even 30 years ago, even if I can remember much else about them.

I can remember songs after 1-2 listens yet I still forget the names of people I worked with 5 years ago?

Maybe I have selective brain damage from the decade I spent playing Doom , Quake,Civilisation 2 and 3, Warcraft and Starcraft.

Hmm thats another blog, how much time I wasted reading pulp science fiction/video games when I could have been studying philosphy and reading classics of modern literature.

Post Christmas

Well back at work after a relatively uneventfull week doing the family shuffle, the girls ended up being very confused about christmas as the opened presents on Christmas Eve (Polish Tradition) then with my parents on Christmas and then with cousins on the 27th they now think Chtistmas is over a week. I ended up having a little too much temparanillo on Christmas, not to good for hangovers. Had some interesting cultural observations on Christmas from Polish and German perspectives. The European Christmas is more about food then presents, and in scaring the crap out of little kids to make sure they are good

Coming back to work it is amazing how many stories I am hearing of family tensions at Christmas.

Its so ironic that getting the family together to celebrate the spirit of Christmas is when most family fights and feuds happen. There is a Polish proverb that Christmas guests are like freshly caught fish, great the first day, a bit smelly the 2nd day and by the 3rd day no longer welcome.
